Position Overview
Youth Utilizing Power and Praise Organization (YUPP) is seeking a dynamic, experienced Vocal Teacher to lead monthly vocal training sessions for students ages 6–25 in the Breaking the Barriers (BTB) Performing Arts Program. The ideal candidate will nurture young voices while fostering vocal technique, confidence, and artistic expression in a culturally affirming and supportive space.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide monthly in-person vocal instruction and mentorship
- Teach foundational and advanced vocal techniques including breath control, pitch, tone, harmony, and stage presence
- Prepare students for the BTB annual showcase and community performances
- Guide students in selecting, rehearsing, and performing solo and group pieces
- Collaborate with dance, acting, and poetry instructors for interdisciplinary performances
- Create a positive, inclusive, and empowering learning environment
- Participate in program meetings and provide occasional student progress reports

Qualifications
- Experience as a vocal coach, choir director, or voice teacher
- Strong understanding of vocal pedagogy and performance readiness
- Ability to work with youth from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent communication, mentorship, and collaboration skills
- Passion for using music as a tool for empowerment and expression
