Position Overview
The Dance Teacher is passionate and creative and specializes in teaching children aged 6 to 16 in the Light It Up School of the Arts Program, and could possibly participate in the Breaking the Barriers Independent Study Program.. The Dance Teacher inspires and nurtures a love of dance while fostering creativity, discipline, and self-confidence in young learners. The Dance Teacher adapts to various skill levels and dance styles while creating a fun and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction and Choreography:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging dance lessons tailored to age and skill levels.
- Teach a variety of dance styles, such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, or tap.
- Choreograph routines for performances, showcases, and competitions.
Student Development:
- Provide personalized feedback and encouragement to help students improve their technique and express themselves.
- Cultivate students’ appreciation for dance and performance arts.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
Classroom Management:
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Promote discipline, respect, and teamwork within the class.
- Address and resolve any behavioral or safety concerns promptly.
Administrative Duties:
- Keep records of attendance and student progress.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about student performance and class updates.
- Collaborate with other instructors and participate in team meetings as needed.
